Hi
Well it's been a week now since I was in London for the seminar.
Things have really flown with the setup of the blog and some little glitchy problems I've been having with it.
For example I wanted to increase the font size in the 'comments' box but unfortunately I needed to get some expert help because that was a bit too techie for me, so I went onto a forum and posted. Thankfully I got a reply within 24 hours and it worked, however it pushed the 'reply' out of it's box.
So it was back to the forum again and another question placed. Again, 24 hours late, I got a reply which solved that problem.
Now I've got problem with my gravatar not showing even although it'd registered on www.gravatar.com. A gravatar is a small photo or image that appears with your name on blog, websites etc. It basically puts a face to a name. So it's back to figuring out what the problem is and if need be, posting on the forum again.
Also I've started 'oil rig hopping'.
This has got to be one of the best ways of building a constent flow of organic traffic to your blog, and to keep it building twenty four hour
s a day. When I first heard Alex Jeffreys [My Coach and Mentor] explain how this system works, which he calls oil rig hopping, I could see straight away how much potential it would have in building a steady flow of traffic to anyone’s blog. Of course like anything worthwhile, it takes time and effort on a person's part.
You have to imagine your blog is an oil rig and the internet is the ocean. First of all, set up your blog and get it up and running, When you start to put content on to your blog that is the algae which will grow all round the oil rig legs. This in turn should attract all of the bait fish, clams etc, which are the people who have started to comment about the content on your blog.
Now when you go oil rig hopping which means you are visiting other people's blogs and leaving your comments, you are just starting to attract more fish to your oil rig, and this is where you start to fish by using free ebooks for example as your bait to attract even more fish.
So by now the algae [content] is growing at a steady rate the clams [people looking at your content] attracting fish [visitors/prospects] around, which in turn are going to attract the bigger fish [customers] around with the help of your free ebook or gift [hook].
Now you are beginning to really start catching the big fish [customers] so you are nearing the ultimate goal, and that is to catch sharks [Joint Venture Partners], and this is all possible because you started a natural food chain [organic traffic] and let it take it’s natural course.
This to me was one of the most important things that I have learnt about getting natural organic traffic to my blog and keeping it fresh.
As long as you keep a steady flow of good content [algae] going on to your blog and keep doing an occasional bit of oil rig hopping your free organic traffic will grow and grow and your blog will flourish without doubt.You should then find that your visitors should start to come at first slowly but eventually at a steady rate.
I'd love to hear your comments or if this has worked for you
Cheers
Doug

Hey Doug nice post and glad to hear you are getting such good results.
I recently posted about how to sign up for Gravator on my blog but haven’t been able to work out how to change the font. Could you tell me how you do it? Also how do you get that email opt in form?
cheers,
Nick
Hi Nick
Thanks for visiting my blog.
I had to go to the forum especially for my theme and ask there. I was given some css code which needed to be added to the css style page so I don’t know if this will work on yours. This also increased font size on ‘Comments’.
In the Dashboard on left hand side, go to ‘Appearance’ then ‘Editor’
On the right hand side you’ll see ‘Templates.’ If you scroll down to bottom you should see ‘Styles’ and ‘style css’. Click on that and you’ll go to style page. Here is the code I use.
.post-inside {
font-size: 14px;
}
#home-right ul li a {
font-size: 14px;
}
.home-categories-comments ul li {
font-size: 14px;
}
.comment-body p {
font-size: 14px;
}
Alternatively if that doesn’t work I use a plug in called FCKeditor which works the same as Microsoft Word so you can change font, colour, size, format etc.
With regards to the opt in form I have an account with Aweber and I use an Aweber plug in to put the form on my pages. It’s just a case of signing up and then choosing which opt in template you wanna use.
If you need further help let me know.
Doug
